The Jijel corniche
A coastal road between mountain and sea from Jijel to Ziama Mansouriah: coves, wild beaches and views.
The Jijel corniche is one of Algeria’s most beautiful coastal roads. It runs west from Jijel through El Aouana to Ziama Mansouriah, then on towards Béjaïa on the RN 43, between forested mountains and blue sea.
Along the road
- Rocky coves with clear water, perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
- Wild beaches backed by forest, quieter than the town beaches.
- Viewpoints to stop and take photos.
- The Wonder Caves at Ziama Mansouriah, a must-see.
Tips
- A car is the easiest way to stop wherever you like.
- May, June and September are ideal: mild weather, fewer people.
- Many coves have no facilities: bring water, food and sunscreen.
- Ask locals about currents and rocks before swimming.
- Take your rubbish with you and keep the beaches clean.
Stay on the corniche and wake up to the sea every morning.
